Black History Month 2026: Lumumba Special

For Black History Month, the Rouyn-Noranda Municipal Library, together with COCAT-RDC and AFriculture Production, presented a cultural and educational activity devoted to Patrice Émery Lumumba.

The first prime minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo remains a major figure in Africa’s independence movements. His political courage, powerful voice and commitment to human dignity continue to shape collective memory.

An accessible and participatory program

The program included historical context, a short documentary, a reading, an open discussion and a community reception.
